A dummy hub for thru-axle and QR frames. It braces the rear triangle when the bike is boxed, and keeps the chain on a docking wheel so you can turn the crank to clean it. Adjusts 130–157 mm.

Description

The Granite ChainDock is a dummy hub, also called a chain keeper. It sits in the rear dropouts when the wheel is out, braces the rear triangle so a bike box or car trunk can't crush the frame, and holds the chain on a docking wheel so you can still turn the crank to clean and lube it.

It adjusts from 130 to 157 mm, so one ChainDock covers road, gravel, Boost and Super Boost. Set the length, loop the chain over the wheel, then run your own 12 mm thru-axle or quick-release skewer through it. Two QR adapters are included.

Machined 6061 alloy, 73 g; the QR adapters add 10 g. Not for single-speed or belt-drive bikes. More: Why every cyclist needs a dummy hub.

  Feature

  • Protects the rear triangle Braces the dropouts when the wheel is out, so a bike box, car trunk or baggage handler can't crush the frame.
  • Keeps the chain docked The chain rides on a docking wheel, off the paint and under tension. Spin the crank to clean and lube with the wheel out of the way.
  • Floating docking wheel The plastic wheel slides on the axle between the lock nut and the end flange, so it finds your chain line on its own.
  • Adjusts 130–157 mm One unit covers road, gravel and Boost or Super Boost MTB dropout spacing. Set the length once with the lock nut.
  • Locked by your own axle Your 12 mm thru-axle or QR skewer runs through it and clamps it in the dropouts. No friction fit, and you can't leave the axle behind.
  • Thru-axle and QR Fits 12 mm thru-axle frames as is; two adapters for quick-release frames are in the box.
  • 6061 alloy, 73 g Machined alloy body. 73 g in the thru-axle setup; the QR adapters add 10 g.

Loop the chain over the docking wheel and turn the crank. Lube and wipe every link with no spinning wheel next to your fingers.

Thread it out to your dropout spacing and lock the nut. Road, gravel, Boost and Super Boost; 12 mm thru-axle, or QR with the included adapters.

Thread the body out until it just touches the inside of both dropouts, then hand-tighten the orange lock nut. On a QR frame, push the two adapters onto the ends first.

Seat it, dock the chain

Seat it, dock the chain

Sit the ChainDock between the dropouts with the docking wheel on the drive side, and loop the chain over it.

Run your axle through

Run your axle through

Slide your thru-axle or QR skewer through the dropouts and the ChainDock, and tighten as you would with the wheel in. Now pack the bike or spin the crank.
